Betty Colleen (Jones) Dean

Betty Colleen Dean, 83, of Rowlesburg, WV, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Kingwood Healthcare Center. She was born July 16, 1940 in Rowlesburg, WV, a daughter of the late Lee Friend and Sadie Freda (Jones) Friend.

Betty was a bartender at Sypolts and later at Maplepool. She was an avid quilter and seamstress.

Betty is survived by two sons, James Dean, of Brooklyn, MD, Robert Baker, of Shanks, WV; three daughters, Sandy Parsons, Cookie Lawrence, and Kathy Massey, of Maryland; two brothers, Roger Friend, Richard Friend; five sisters, Norma Johnson, Geneva Wolfe, Shirley Vinson, Hilda Kay Sypolt, Margarett Jones; fourteen grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Sovern; one sister, Ethel Friend; one brother, James Cornett.

At her request cremation services were accorded by Kingwood Funeral Home and Cremation. UPDATE: A memorial service will be held, Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 2 PM, at Etam Chapel Church, 35 Bluebird Drive, Rowlesburg, WV 26425.
